


On 5-6 November AFCEA TecNet Sofia 2026 will celebrate 80-years Anniversary of AFCEA International.
The Jubilee Conference is under the Patronage of the Minister of Defence Dimitar Stoyanov.
THE FOCUS of this Jubilee annual conference of AFCEA SOFIA CHAPTER “TECH NET SOFIA 2026” is:
How can NATO, the EU, national institutions, academia and industry plan and jointly use artificial intelligence and new technologies to build sustainable digitalization, as well as a reliable and independent security and defence system for the next decade?
THE GOAL is to discuss rapidly evolving technologies with changing defence and security needs and requirements and the collective efforts of NATO and the EU for a more effective and coordinated use of common financial and technological resources.
The plenary session will present the policies of NATO, the EU, the Ministry of Defence for modernization and use of intelligent systems and weapons; The new directions and priorities of the armed forces and their inclusion in existing programs. Naturally, the lessons learned from recent armed conflicts and the new technical and operational needs of the armed forces will also be discussed.
A special panel will be dedicated to artificial intelligence and intelligent systems and their use for modern combat and defence with a discussion on the topic "What can and should be delegated to artificial intelligence? Where is the human in the loop? How to use guaranteed algorithms? Artificial intelligence vs. artificial intelligence?"
In a separate session, the technical aspects of advanced and innovative solutions will be covered, with topics like: autonomous and robotic systems, drones, C4ISR, interoperability of military and commercial systems in critical environments.
Multi Domain Operations is not just a fiction. The use of this term, theory and practice is dictated by the gigantic development of weapons systems today.
Finally, one cannot ignore the problems related to the protection/destruction of critical infrastructure and the eternal topic of cybersecurity – complex topics with integrated roles of many Ministries and State institutions.
Representatives of the Defence and IT industries will have the opportunity to present their new solutions and discuss them with their users.
